FAQs

What is counselling?

Counselling is a talk therapy between a suitably trained counsellor and their client which “offers you a safe, confidential place to talk about your life and anything that may be confusing, painful or uncomfortable. It allows you to talk with someone who is trained to listen attentively and to help you improve things” BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy)

What type of counselling do you provide?

I believe everyone is different and while one counselling theory might suit me, it may not suit someone else. My training is in Integrative Counselling meaning I studied a number of different counselling theories (CBT, Person-Centred, Mindfulness, etc.) and I work creatively to fit these theories around you rather than making you fit to a single theory. I also bring to my work the values of empathy and being non-judgemental with all my clients.

Is counselling a painful process?

Counselling can be painful initially but it can also be a huge relief. To talk about emotions and difficulties for the first time can feel like the most enormous weight being lifted from your shoulders.

How much do you charge?

I charge 55 euro per hour.

Is counselling an instant cure?

It normally takes a few sessions before you become aware of changes and improvements in your life.

  • Depression
  • Self-esteem
  • Anger management
  • Sexual abuse
  • Suicide
  • Emotional abuse
